Nearly 100 members of the CIGNA (NYSE: CI) Health Awareness Tour team will walk, bike and run into Blue Bell Sunday to help raise money and awareness for cancer prevention.

CIGNA's team will take part in the Lance Armstrong Foundation's Livestrong Challenge, which includes a 5K run/walk and 10-, 20-, 40-, 70- and 100-mile bike rides taking off from Montgomery County Community College. Additionally, in support of the Philadelphia community, the CIGNA Foundation made a $5,000 contribution to Livestrong to help pay entry fees for children who could not afford to attend the event.

"Nearly 12 million Americans are living with cancer. While a great deal of attention is given to research and treatments for cancer, prevention remains our single greatest opportunity to improve health, well-being and a sense of security for all those we serve," said Joe Gassman, CIGNA's local leader for the event.

Other support from CIGNA for the Livestrong Challenge is focused on ways to engage children and adults in leading active, healthy lives. At the event, a CIGNA educational tent will provide information about several health education tools, including the HopeLab Remission video game for children living with cancer. Participants also will have an opportunity to explore CIGNA's new Learn4YourHealth website at http://www.cigna.com with a game, educational courses and incentives promoting awareness of the need for clean drinking water around the world, as well as steps everyone can take to make informed decisions on health care and health costs.
