XPL, the only gum product available in the U.S. marketplace that is scientifically proven to naturally help your body break down and expel nicotine, is now available at 7-Eleven stores nationwide (USA). After five years of research and product development, XPL chomps onto the $1 billion retail market for mints and gums in the United States. On Friday, April 1st 2005, XPL Innovations, Inc., the manufacturer of XPL, invites smokers nationwide to participate in the "Great American Chew-Out." To take part, smokers are invited to log onto http://www.XPLgum.com to receive a complimentary package of XPL or patronize 7-Eleven stores to purchase XPL (MSRP: $0.99 cents per package).

"XPL is for the smoker who's not ready to quit," says Patrick Carroll, President of XPL Innovations and founder of Freedom Tobacco, the manufacturer of LEGAL brand cigarettes. "While there are many products available for smokers seeking to quit smoking, XPL is the only gum available that is scientifically proven to reduce the negative effects of smoking by cleaning up a smokers teeth, cleaning up their breath and cleaning out the nicotine. While our 'Great American Chew-Out' day coincides with April fool's day, you'd have to be a fool not to participate in this historic event," adds Carroll.

"Over 900 million cigarettes are smoked daily in the United States, and over 50 million people in the U.S. smoke. While quitting smoking entirely is best, XPL is a viable alternative for smoker's who are unable to quit."

Developed by Korean scientist and professor Hyun-Won Kim of the University of Yonsei's College of Medicine, XPL uses an all-natural, proprietary blend of ingredients called Nico-N. Nico-N ingredients include Chinese quince, dried orange peel, mulberry leaf, green tea, gingko nut, licorice root, apple, platy condon, lemon, celery and Chinese matrimony vine.

XPL helps the body naturally break down and expel nicotine by aiding the liver in the production of cotinine, the metabolite that breaks down nicotine. Nicotine expulsion lowers blood pressure which reduces the risk of heart disease and heart attacks for smokers. Additionally, studies show Nico-N reduces carcinogenic nitrosamines, which lower the risk of some types of cancer.

"Although cigarette smoking produces an increase in the risk of lung cancer, heart disease presents even deadlier consequences," said Professor Hyun-Won Kim. "Smokers have about a 50% chance of developing heart disease while less than 1% risk of developing lung cancer." Clinical trials determining the efficacy of Nico-N confirmed the increase of cotinine production resulting from the inhibition of nitrosamine conversion. "Our results demonstrated that Nico-N facilitated the conversion of nicotine to conversion on HepG2, and inhibit the conversion of NKK to carcinogen, and the conversion of nitrosating agents to nitrosomorpholin. These results indicate that Nico-N facilitates the conversion of nicotine to continine, and thus the concentration of contine was increased. Hence, in laymen's terms, XPL, which includes the Nico-N compound, helps the body naturally break down and expel nicotine by aiding the liver in the production of cotinine which is the metabolite that breaks down nicotine."
