Moffitt Cancer Center is recruiting women without a history of cancer to participate in a study that will compare common problems, such as fatigue, sleep disruption and inflammation, to women who have received a gynecologic cancer diagnosis.

Heather Jim, Ph.D., of Moffitt's Health Outcomes & Behavior Program, focuses her research on developing behavioral interventions to increase well-being and quality of life among patients.

Study volunteers will be asked to fill out questionnaires and wear an activity monitor similar to a Fitbit on their wrist several times over the course of 18 months in order to observe their sleep patterns. They will also be asked to provide blood samples.

"This is a unique opportunity for women without cancer to contribute to the research being done at Moffitt," said Jim. "If we can better understand how gynecologic cancer patients feel different from women without cancer, then we can better target treatments to help patients feel better during and after their care."

Volunteers are paid $25 per study assessment they complete, up to $225. If you are interested in participating, please contact Research Coordinator Alex Talsma at 813-745-2168 or email GYNstudy@Moffitt.org.
