About the Speakers:

  • Edgar Goluch: Associate Professor, Northeastern University, USA, will be conducting a presentation about 'Current And Emerging Microbiology Diagnostic Systems'.
Edgar has published over 50 peer-reviewed journal articles and conference proceedings in the areas of microfluidics, sensors, and biophysics. His current research is focused on developing micro/nano-fluidic devices and sensor technology for detecting and studying bacterial cells and biofilms. In 2014, Edgar founded QSM Diagnostics, Inc. to commercialize the sensor technology developed in his laboratory.
  • Peter Karp, Director, Bioinformatics Research Group, SRI International, USA, will be hosting a presentation about 'BioCyc SmartTables Enable Pathway Analyses of Gene and Metabolite Sets'.
Peter works in the interdisciplinary field of bioinformatics, which develops computer-science methods for managing and analyzing the burgeoning quantities of biological data and knowledge. His group has developed algorithms for visualization of metabolic networks, for predicting anti-bacterial drug targets within metabolic networks, and for predicting the metabolic pathways of an organism whose genome has been sequenced.

Both exciting presentations are available to download right now here

Benefits of the webinar recording:

  • Get an understanding of the upcoming switch from BioCyc as a freely available resource to a community supported resource
  • Receive an overview of the current emerging microbiology diagnostic systems
  • Gain information on how BioCyc Smart tables allow users to store gene and metabolite sets
  • Hear about how the current diagnostic systems for microbiology are changing, and what is in store in the future
