Oxford Global Conferences were proud to present the Food, Nutrition and Agriculture Genomics Congress this April in London, with over 175 senior delegates attending from leading pharmaceutical and academic institutions.

Held at the Royal Garden Hotel Kensington in London, Oxford Global's first Food, Nutrition and Agriculture Genomics Congress featured over 40 presentations and case studies from renowned practitioners and researchers in food and nutrition companies, food testing, and plant and agriculture research institutes, exploring the application of NGS in areas such as personalised nutrition and health, identifying diet-genome interactions, increasing crop quality and improving livestock breeding programmes.

Consisting of five interactive streams, including NGS Applications in Agriculture, Animal Genomics and Application of NGS in Agriculture and Nutrition: Personalised Nutrition and Microbial Genomics, delegates were able to tailor the agenda to suit their topics of interest. By guaranteeing this level of autonomy, the event remained truly dynamic, ensuring a broad range of topics were covered. An attending Principal Research Officer from Teagasc commented, "I liked the fact that there were 2-3 parallel streams running throughout the day, as it ensured that there was something for everyone."

A staff scientist delegate from CRA-NUT also praised the different streams, stating, "The multidisciplinary nature and the opportunity to meet people in different but interdependent fields of agriculture, food and nutrition were all great. The presentations were also able to provide a general view of the field."

Our events also have a strong networking focus, ensuring the time schedule of the day allows for plenty of opportunity to meet delegates and solution providers alike, working in a similar field. The Deputy Executive Director from IWGSC reported,

"Due to the size of the Congress, and the timing of the coffee breaks and lunch, there were many opportunities for informal interaction."

With the EMEA Sales Manager from LGC, an attending solution provider company, advising, "The attendees were decision makers relevant to my company, and the networking drinks were definitely an added bonus."

Typically held at the end of the first day of the Congress, the networking drinks provide an informal setting for delegates and solution providers to meet. As one of Oxford Global's signature features in our Congress time schedule, we're always thrilled to receive such glowing feedback when it comes to this additional extra for everybody attending the event. The Global Consortia Program Manager for Illumina remarked, "The Congress had an intimate atmosphere and the time schedule allowed for plenty of time to network - the networking drinks were excellent."

Following the event, we analyse statistics and feedback we receive from attendees, and we are proud to announce that we achieved an 'Above Average' rating in our categories including:

  • the venue,
  • the overall organisation of the Congress,
  • the services of the Oxford Global staff,
  • the quality of attending delegates,
  • the format of the Congress.

This is great news for everyone involved in the production of Oxford Global's first Food, Nutrition and Agriculture Genomics Congress.

After the success of this year's event, Oxford Global are pleased to announce that we will be hosting our 2nd Food, Nutrition and Agriculture Genomics Congress in London in April 2015.
