Patient Reviews
Apr 02, 2023
During a recent visit to LVHN Emergency center for a suspected appendicitis the ER doc ordered a CAT scan that revealed a growth in my colon. He then told me that both the appendix and the mass had to be removed. Soon after a surgical team, headed by Dr. Cooney, appeared to my beside. She and another member were very calming, straight forward and confident that they would remove the mass, along with a healthy margin of tissue for testing and that I would be fine. It turned out to be my lucky day after all ! Without being overly dramatic, she and the team probably saved my life because it was cancer. Dr. Cooney called my wife, spent considerable time on the phone with her and explained the situation and was very assuring to her. She was also at my side going into surgery and after surgery she called my wife again and explained the whole procedure. I went home 2 days later and am now fully recovered. Thank you Dr. Leahna Cooney.

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
