How likely are you to recommend Dr. Mattei?
With grand gratitude to Dr. Peter Mattie and Dr. Juan Perez, the surgical staff, nurses, life coaches, and ALL of CHOPS staff, our daughter, Lucy, is looking towards her future at full speed, of which she’s worked hard for through sickness and recovery. If it wasn’t for the coincidence that we where in Philadelphia the day Lucy’s bodily functions caved, she wouldn’t be ceasing her full colleague ride and studying abroad since September with STETSON and TRINITY College in Dublin Ireland. We struggled a very long road advocating for our Lucy. In September 2021, her already complication health conditions went haywire. After many ED visits, they found some tumors, particularly one that was highly metabolic and hyper on her left 4th posterior rib, which was neatly tucked under her scapula. The tumor was discovered in a previous X-ray from 2020 when she had difficulties breathing (pre COVID). Lucy named the infamous tumor “ribzilla”. Although a begin tumor, it was extremely aggressive in growth while causing a heap of health issues. We worked tirelessly with providers, over a dozen specialist and the insurance company to provide her the best outcomes for her future and avoid her continuous health decline. I disowned my business to an extent to fight the meat grinder with the health care and insurance crisis blockages. Thanks to Dr. Peter Mattie and Dr. Juan Perez, Lucy has been granted a better quality of life post op. She is excelling mentally, physically and without limitations compared to the pain she had endured. From the day we saw her one blown pupil in Sept 2021 to the day of surgery July 6, 2022, we can say it was the longest and slowest months of our life’s, and as for Lucy, the most painful, confusing, and exhausting during her senior year of high school (her scholarships hinged on her grades). She withheld her pain with grace; she lost her ability go to the gym, do her hair, partake in her photography/ cinematography, drive to and from School, along with the inability to do the most basic physical daily task. With all her hardships, she managed…graduated with her Cambridge International honors and move on to her first semester abroad. (Kudos Lucy!) She never took pain medication to allow herself to be in sync with her body and to note new symptoms as they developed. Thank you is in order to these surgeons who got rid of “ribzilla” seamlessly and relieved Lucy from the excruciating pain, and the heap of confusion, emotions and limitations. Pre Op, as the surgery became a last minute emergency, I swiftly researched Dr. Mattie’s credentials; I felt an immediate and major sense of relief, and even after my review, our expectations where proven to be underestimated. Lucy and I assertively can state Dr. Mattie is a solid forthcoming doctor with his patients best interest. I forwent questions and details as within his confidence I knew he would do all he could in the most minimal invasive way humanly possible. Without small talk, he did what he needed to do and kept us well apprised during and after the procedure…. And continuously through her Post Op. I can go own forever with our heart felt appreciation in writing, but the relief cannot be put into just words. The outcome was 10 Fold better than we could have expected and gratefully, the soft yet steady hands of these surgeons together with the surgical staff, the kind yet diligent NP, was Lucy’s best outcome. A summer trip to Philly was a disguised life changer for her best years yet to come. Thank you! Forever grateful. With much love, Lucy RIBZILLA’s Ex
