Patient Reviews
Jun 06, 2023
I was on a wait list in May to see any doctor at District Dermatology as the Dr. I'd been seeing there was unavailable. I got a call at 9 AM for a 9:40 cancellation. I hurried over from DC--unwashed, hair a mess, and annoyed that it was my only choice if I wanted a full-body exam before November--I'd had a pre-cancerous mole removed a year earlier. Dr Ronkainen came in (on time!) and introduced herself. I was curt and said I appreciated her seeing me, but I would be looking for a new practice as telling a current patient to wait 6 months or hope for a cancellation and drop everything to get there was inexcusable, She agreed, apologised, explained the problem and how they're resolving it, and gave me her email. If I needed it, she would make sure she could fit me in within a week or 2. Her exam was thorough, she explained what she was looking at and why, suggestions to minimise risks, and it ended with me apologising for my rudeness and changing to her as my primary dermatologist.

What’s a board certification and why is it important that my provider has one?

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
