How likely are you to recommend Dr. Rao?
I am 65 years old and of course overweight. I live in Cecil County. On September 25th 2023, I had my husband take me to UMMC ER (Harford Memorial) in Havre de Grace, Md. which is closer to where I live, because I could not put on my right sock and shoe by myself anymore without great difficulty. A CT Scan was performed and a large ovarian cyst was discovered, and for all these years my husband and I thought that I was just getting old and fat. The ER Doctor ran a lot of blood work which included the CA 125 because he presumed it to be cancerous and also took the time to contact numerous OB/GYN Oncologists in and around our area and NO ONE would take my case! Except for Dr. Gautam Roa! He answered the call and said that he would determine the best approach in removing the cyst but we would have to travel to Baltimore to see him. It was worth both trips (Consultation and Surgery). He is very knowledgeable, direct and thorough in his investigation of the situation and personally called me on the results of the lab work. He called me prior to the operation and after I was discharged from UMMC and if I didn’t answer he immediately called my husband to have him notify me that he called me and was checking in on me. On Nov. 8th 2023, Dr. Rao and his surgical staff removed approximately a 7.7 lb., L 9” x W 6” x D 3” Ovarian Cyst from my right ovary and found a little cyst growing on my left ovary which he removed along with both ovaries and left my uterus intact also he did an exploratory of my abdomen to make sure he wouldn’t have to operate again. Biopsies were performed and everything was found to be benign. My husband and I feel that Dr. Rao was a godsend and we are extremely thankful for him for accepting my case.
