If I'm correct during the 1996-97 time period, Dr. Mark McElhannon, was then CPT Mark McElhannon, Medical Corps, U. S. Army. All he did was to SAVE MY LIFE. He read my CBC correctly for a high Platelet count, and sent me to a hematologist, who diagnosed me with Essential Thrombocythemia. Untreated, it could have caused a heart attack, stroke , or acute leukemia in 5 years. He treated it and I'm still alive, thanks to Dr. McElhannon's timely diagnosis.

A board certification represents a provider’s dedication to ongoing training in one or more specialties, including the completion of intensive exams. While not all specialties have board certifications, if your provider does have one they’ve taken the extra step to master their specialty and to keep up with the latest advancements in their field.
